'CN' blend;
The combination of 'c' + [any vowel] + 'n' uses this sign; which is aa blend of 'c' and ;n; and whilst written the same size as an 'n' but the hook at the top switched to indicate a  'c'. You should note that this combination has a vowel in the middle, although the context will provide the conclusion as to which one.

The blend of 'cn' is neither a hard or soft sounding 'c'.
